Should they still be showing thing's like this?

at about 5.00am on friday i could not get back to sleep so i put the tv on. I ended up seeing a old police series from about 1981 where a woman was raped. The C.I.D. man interviewing asked if she was wearing a bra when it happend, she said no and that was it, case rapped up, she'd asked for it. It ended with a woman police officer giveing her a stern warning that she would be wasting her time if she wanted her attacker charged. I know that this was on at 5am but i don't think they should still be showing this thing's are a bit diffrent now.

Should they still be showing thing's like this?
its fine..because thats how things were in the old days..everyone knows thats not how it is now..
Reply:It sounds like it's very dated. One really good rape scene that I think was dealt with really well was Sheila Grant's in Brookside.
Reply:As the film was stated it was directed/produced in the 80's then it is okay its just like when we watch victorian programmes or old war films etc
Reply:just because somthing is out of date it doesnt mean it should not be shown, it was a drama program not a documentary, if anyhting it shows how far the criminal justice system has come in the last 20 odd years
Reply:Thing is that it is based on facts.

Showing something in the early hours is fine too.
Reply:As you say, this was filmed in the 80`s, and things have changed since then.

Going back even further people were hanged for serious crimes, people were sent to the gas chambers for their religious beliefs, children were sent up chimneys, people were taken from their homes and shipped across the world and sold as slaves.

We still images of these events. It was history and our social and moral perceptions have changed, but it happened, why sweep it under the carpet
