Should I call a potential employer if told they'd get back to me within 1-1/2 weeks and it's been over that?

I've had two job interviews, meeting with 12 professionals total and every interview went fantastic. I know my references have been checked b/c they told me that the interviewer sounded excited with their answers. Now I'm just waiting to hear if I got the job. The only thing is, I was told that it would take 1-1/2 weeks before I'd hear back from them b/c they were also trying to schedule an interview with another person. It's been almost 2 weeks now. Should I sit tight at wait or call/email my potenial new boss? If yes, what should I say?

Should I call a potential employer if told they'd get back to me within 1-1/2 weeks and it's been over that?
I would call. Tell them you are just following up and would like an idea of how much longer it may take for them to make a decision. Think about it. If the other person is calling them for status, they are more on their minds than you. Let them know you are anxious for a decision.
Reply:Agreed, its been more than the 10 days they promised.

Time to call, but do not sound anxious.
Reply:yes!
Reply:it might be just me, but I would most likely wait a little while to call. All though I haven't been to many job interviews but I think that if they were really excited about you applying then they will get back to you. They might just be a little behind schedule etc. I wouldn't want to bother them. Maybe wait a few more days, if possible to call then. Unless it is manditory, and you are really needing the job, it really depends on your situation.

Who would you give the visa-extension to?

a) Factory Manager: employs 162 citizens as Full Time Equivalents, pays taxes etc. but at the interview he stinks and is dressed sloppy.

b) Interpreter Chinese-English + Arabic-English, all the paperwork is in order, very professional, earns a mint! Swaggers into the interview KNOWING he's getting the visa.

c) Artist. Not the most stable of incomes but he had a great year and he does a great interview. Easy for him because he's genuinely a good guy anyway.

Who gets it?

.

Who would you give the visa-extension to?
The Factory Manager would have a higher priority for getting their visa extended. For employment visas like the one he would be on, either an investors visa or H1B, there is no interview. Instead his lawyer would file the necessary paperwork as well as the filing fee and he would likely get his renewed.

What rights does a pregnant woman have when interviewing?

Okay...here's the situation. A school that I subbed for last school year called and told me that they wanted to consider me for a part-time teaching position. The administration knows that I am pregnant and due in late October.

Knowing this, I went through the process of interviewing. Had my 2nd interview today. The superintd. says to me, "Well, obviously your pregnancy is a factor. How much time do you need off? Two weeks?"

I was so taken aback by this comment, that I flat out said, I didn't know...it depended on whether or not I had a C section or regular birth, and the recommendation of my doctors.

2 weeks? Like this is a tonsilectomy or something?

This left me feeling discriminated against. I mean, they contact me. I didn't go hunting for this job. I was called. I was planning on subbing, but I thought that maternity leave was obviously factored in because they know I am preggo. I didn't hide this fact. I told them early on last school year.

Thoughts?

What rights does a pregnant woman have when interviewing?
Wow... well, his comments is uncalled for... unethical... and maybe illegal.

BUT... I think the right way to handle this is to remind him that you're a highly-qualified teacher and you're looking for a long-term career. Sure, you might have to go on maternity leave-- but afterwards, he will have you as a top-quality teacher for decades to come.

If you threaten legal action... or criticize him (in public or private) you'll have even LESS of a chance of getting the job. So, even though he was wrong, just ignore the comments for now.

Perhaps you will still get the job. If not, you can still sub and be a candidate for a position next time around.

Good luck to you!!

hehe... I just read an ebook "Guide to Getting a Teaching Job" ( http://www.iwantateachingjob.com ). In it, there's a section titled, "7 worst things to say at an interview." One of those 7 things was, "I am preganant." You story reminds me of that.
Reply:I'm not sure he violated any rights in interviewing, but he sure did show himself to be ignorant. 2 weeks?

You know, if that is any indication of who this man is, you might be grateful to find out now and avoid working for him. Heaven forbid anything else happen to you, who knows how much time he will think is appropriate!

Good Luck, and I hope you find a job with a better educated boss.
Reply:I believe in most states maturity leave is about 6 weeks.. But i would check.

Why do TV studios put scenic backgrounds during interviews with people not in the studio?

Whenever someone from another city or area comes on during the news or an interview, you can usually see something like an important building (White house in Washington, D.C), and there will be some sort of movement.

Why do TV studios put scenic backgrounds during interviews with people not in the studio?
it makes them look as though theyre sitting in front of a window, sometimes they really r sitting in front of a window, to tell, see if outdoor scenery changes.

NY JURY DUTY, but going out of state for interviews??

I've been summoned to be a standby juror on Friday, but I'm leaving on Tuesday to interview for jobs out of state. I've already had one postponement b/c I forgot to call in the first time. When i finally remembered the guy said it was no big deal and rescheduled me for a different time.

Can I be excused a 2nd time if I go in on Monday and show them my plane ticket, new lease, deposit checks (already cashed) and resignation letter from my previous employer?????

NY JURY DUTY, but going out of state for interviews??
I once got my boss rescheduled by sending in a copy of her plane ticket but since this is your second reschedule.... I don't know. Call and find out.
Reply:File for an exemption of jury duty and then attach a copy of the letter for the interview and a copy of the airline tickets and bring that to the court in a hurry......
Reply:Go Monday and if you are called for a case, tell them your situation and if that doesn't work, tell them that you hate lawyers, the court system and make a big stink - you will be excused, believe me.

You can be excused from jury duty for extenuating circumstances, and I would think this would apply. Call the courthouse and ask to speak to the Jury Commissioner and explain your situation. It shouldn't be a problem; they normally call many more people than they actually need.

If a man walks 12m towards South then 5m to his Right and 5m again to his Right and again 15m towards Right.?

then find the distance from starting point to ending point?

Options are A. 3m B. 5m C. 4m

This is asked in an Interview.

If a man walks 12m towards South then 5m to his Right and 5m again to his Right and again 15m towards Right.?
The question is vague, and cannot be answered. But I suppose that's the point of this question if it's an interview question - they want to hear your thought process.

It's interesting you use the word "right" which makes the problem even more vague. For example, after he goes south, and starts walking to his "right" is he still facing south or is he now going to face west? I will assume he actually faces the direction he is going.

Obviously if you take a 2 dimensional plane, it makes no sense, because in total you walked 7m south and 10m east (which is about 12m from the starting point). But what if you walked on the globe (a sphere)? For example suppose you start on the north pole. Then you go 12m south, then 5m west then 5m north, then 15m east... you'll end up 7m from the northpole. The answer changes depending on where on the globe you are. If you're on the equator, you go 12m south, then 5m west, then 5m north, then 15m east, note that the 5m west traveled is NOT a third of the 15m east traveled in the opposite direction because the circumfrances are different.

Zilmer: U.S. 'stifling' Iraq insurgency

WASHINGTON - A senior American commander in Iraq said Tuesday that U.S.-led military operations are "stifling" the insurgency in western Anbar province but are not strong enough to defeat it.

Marine Maj. Gen. Richard C. Zilmer told reporters in a telephone interview from his headquarters in Fallujah that he has enough U.S. troops — about 30,000 — to accomplish what he called his main mission: training Iraqi security forces.

....so the mission has changed from finding weapons of mass destruction to finding weapons of mass destruction related programs to finding Saddam Hussein to finding Zarqawi to bringing democracy and freedom to stopping the civil war to training the Iraqi forces??? lol

When will the US govt. learn that its policy of intervention is spreading more hate than 'freedom' and 'democracy'?

OK, here's the deal. You cannot possibly learn everything there is to know about every Microsoft product. What you need to do is learn just the basics. Here's a link to the most popular Microsoft products. Each product has a "read more" section that gives you the basic info.

If you want more detailed info about any MS product, I suggest going to the Microsoft web page and do a search for the specific product. Good luck with the mcse.

How easy is it for a young person to get work????

..... really unless you study in the exact sector to which you want to work in,..... (which is hard to choose at 18, and most dont want to do same thing all life... ) how easy or hard is it to get a job that pays over 12,000 anually, unless its one off work.... im just a young girl..... not seeing much of a future unless i become an entrepuneer .. or however you spell it...........

another thing.... why dont schools teach about bills, and how to write a c.v? what to say in an interview......

How easy is it for a young person to get work????
It is hard, i am a mentor for young people and find that the world wants you to have experience plus pay you sh#t money alot of the people i see get treated like second class citizens, my advice is this- do some voluntarily work anything, if you dont like it cross it off the list keep going till something catches your interest do this whilst in a job so you can get two references one from each and have money coming in this will give you experience, if you have a business idea along the way there are loads of initiatives out there and grants for young people to set up their own business try to plan ahead think references, experience build it up bit by bit and you can acheive it - see if there is a mentoring service in your area by contacting a youth organisation, try the careers office and just keep looking til you find someone who can help support you dont give up - i left school with no exams i am now a single mum in the process of setting up my own business help is out there go online type in mentoring service or youth support etc Good luck
Reply:I'd go with what the witch says I'm 27 and a single mum and wasn't sure what i wanted to do for a long while but I've now got an appointment on Thursday with homestart who visit mums with children under 5 to give them support i think I'd like to become a support worker so thought I'd do some voluntary work to make sure i like it and also gain some experience

good luck

Is it legal for the private Lutheran high schools to discriminate in enrollement of other religions?

My Daughter has attended Salem Lutheran School since she was two years old. All these years her parent's religion was not an issue. Now that she is getting to go to high school, she is placed on hold. She is honor student and on the principle list. Many of her friends that were admited were C or B average students. In the interview they ask her what her religion was and if she attends church. I believe that is the only reason she is on the waiting list and nothing else. She is heart broken to be separated from all her friends.

Is it legal for the private Lutheran high schools to discriminate in enrollement of other religions?
It may be the reason, it may not be. If they are a full school, they are in the position of picking and choosing who they want to admit. If it is a private school with no federal or state support, I believe they can hold her out. Would it hurt to ask them, calmly why she hasn't been approved.
Reply:I think you should look for the answer in the US Constitution. Doesn't it forbid any discrimination based on sex, age, race, personal beliefs or religion? If it does, there should be no exception to that!

But, before that, be sure your daughter as better grades than the admited students (or, at least, equal grades).

For any two events A and B:

P(A ∩ B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A U B)

Let X be the event of rejected by firm X

Let Y be the event of rejected by firm Y

P(X U Y ) = 0.6

P(X) = 0.3

P(Y) = 0.5

P(X ∩ Y) = P(being reject by both) = 0.3 + 0.5 - 0.6 = 0.2

Do you think that Fractal imaging is the thumb print of God?

I tend to equate it to be Gods biography more so then the bible.

COLORS OF INFINITY

The Mandelbrot set—someone has called it the thumbprint of God—is one of the most beautiful and remarkable discoveries in the entire history of mathematics. With Arthur C. Clarke as narrator and interviews with a number of notable mathematicians, including Benoît Mandelbrot, this program graphically illustrates how simple formulas can lead to complicated results: it explains the set, what it means, its internal consistency, and the revolutions in thought resulting from its discovery. Asked if the real universe goes on forever, Stephen Hawking defines its limit of smallness; the Mandelbrot set, on the other hand, may go on forever.

Do you think that Fractal imaging is the thumb print of God?
It may be the closest thing we have to a "thumbprint" of God, and some theologians are engaging complexity theory as a means of trying to understand how God and the universe work. Yet, while the Mandelbrot set can be thought of as a "signature" of God, there may be other things even more wondrous yet to be explored, if we keep looking!

I share your interest of and delight in this fascinating topic.
Reply:It really is very fascinating and shows how complex structures can be constructed from very simple patterns. Is it God's fingerprint? Well it seems to draw us nearer to understanding how all things are constructed and could be.
Reply:It is just a mathematical pattern. If anything, it is the fingerprint of evolution. That's because it is a complex shape that can be described with simple formulas. If you look at nature, you see similar patterns that have evolved and have been encoded in DNA. The human blood vessel system, for example, it fractal in nature. There is self symmetry all the way down to capillaries.
Reply:God is a spirit.

He doesn't leave thumbprints, but the evidence of His existance is all around us.

What happened to my last name?

I had citizenship intervew, my petition was denied. (I made a mistake and applied 2 months earlier). Officer said I can reapply at any time and I'll do so. ...But... In my application I stated that I want to change last name. During the interview the INS officer said b/c I got married before becoming a permanent resident no need to go thru legal name change procedures and ... change my last name to my husband's in the application. (Note, that I didn't change my last time at the time we got married.) Then he gave me a "denial" letter w/ the new last name on it. I was silly enough not to clarify the name situation on a spot, I was too upset and the name situation didn't click right away. What happened? Does that mean I have a new last name? In my "out of immigration issues" life I have no proof of last name change. Should I change green card, SSN..? I'm afraid I got myself into some clerical mess!

What happened to my last name?
If your application was denied no name change occurred. The denial was just address to you how you wanted to change your name.

Make sure to fill out the application again with the name you want to use from now on.

I cant find a job...what should i do?

i have a BA in psychology with mostly retail experience {like many college students} and im looking for something that pays decent, but everytime i apply and i actually get an interview, they shut me down b/c of lack of experience....WHAT SHOULD I DO?...i'm very hesitant about going back to school and getting a master, with the cost and all...

I cant find a job...what should i do?
A great place to gain experience is through volunteer and community work. It may take some time to break into your chosen field, and remember most entry level positions do not have the most lucrative pay, however will lead you on a path towards you dream career.
Reply:Self-employment is always an option.

When I was first getting started in my field of expertise, I would make sure that the local media outlets knew that I was an expert in my field. When they did stories on my field, they'd invariably call me and put me in the paper, on the radio, or on TV. I amassed quite a bit of interview time, and then I assembled a portfolio of that stuff and used it for marketing purposes. It worked pretty well.

Good luck.

Obama 'Deeply' Regrets Choice of Words

If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that," Obama said in an interview with the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal.

Damn right. I hope Obama shoves the truth down their throats !

They have been sending jobs overseas for years. Plus, Bush has f***ed us for eight years. Sometimes people can't handle the truth and they get mad at the messenger. I agree. I rather have someone tell me the truth than lie to my face. what 81% of the people who think the country is heading seriously in the wrong direction are all happy and merry about their futures? Get a grip For those you who didn't listen to the whole video but only want to take out stuff for your benefit and make it a negative spin on Obama. Some one from the audience asked him the question. He didn't just bring the subject up on his own. I was watching Fox News and the white analysis said Obama is telling the truth but the PA voters will not vote for him because of it. The governor Rendell already said white voters will not vote for Obama because he is a black man. They aren't ready for a black president. That's racist but is true.

3) Obama’s opposition to the Iraq war, while laudable in hindsight made little sense in 2002, except when his family, ethnic, and religious identity enter the equation.

5) Obama consistently downplays his relationship with Jeremiah Wright.

6) Lies about Wright’s personal influence.

7) Lies about his involvement with Wright’s politics, and the politics of Wright’s Church.

8) Obama forces Jeremiah Wright to dissimulate about the nature of his church, his and their views, opinions, and achievements.

9) Obama dissimulates on Wright’s past association with Farrakhan.

10) Obama employs Nation of Islam, in the past and present. Lets them go untouched, which

11) Raises concerns about Obama’s own stance on the Nation of Islam.

12) Obama dissimulates about his former take on Israel, and the Palestinians, putting in question his present stance.

13) Obama misrepresents his background, and the context from which he hails, for political purposes.

14) his books are fraught with lies about himself.

15) Obama’s campaign deliberately exploits his racial identity, to shield their candidate from regular media grilling.

16) Obama has chosen a deliberate strategy of evasion and vagueness in tackling tough issues. He does not take a stand, and he wont.

17) Obama’s rise to prominence, in Chicago, is fraught with deus ex machine events, and strange circumstances.

18) Why Obama’s record in Chicago, has not received a proper vetting or review by the national media, is puzzling.

19) Obama entered Havard because his father was an Alumnus.

20) It is not clear when changed his name from Barry Soetoro, and why.

21) The Media refuse to ask him questions about all of the above. Why?

22) Obama is a pathological liar, hence so are the media. He is a phony, and the media are complicit in foisting him on the Democratic party.

Reply:I don't understand why politicians don't get it: to get elected, you keep your remarks to the bare minimum. He did a great job of that earlier in the race with his message of hope. He even weathered the Wright controversy with a well-made, well-measured speech.

Now that he's ahead, Obama starts shooting his mouth off.

McCain's got this election in the bag because the Demos (Hillary, Obama) are destroying themselves each week with a stupid remark or a stupid remark from somebody in their camp (Ferraro, Wright). McCain's got a lot of extra fodder...
Reply:i do agree
Reply:People do not like truth, they want to hear what they want to hear, anything else is some evil conspiracy.

Voters in the US act like children, someone doesn't tell you what will make you happy then b!tches throw a tantrum.

It's embarassing.

Whether or not Obama is an honest man is irrelevent, I believe he's more honest than the current occupant in the white house and anything is an improvement, but people need to get out of their tribal thinking
Reply:Whenever Obama goes off script, he sounds like a whack job. Be careful.
Reply:Amen, sister. It about time we had ourselves a President who will tell us the truth no matter if we want to hear it or not.

Truth would be very refreshing after 8 years of Bush and his cronies.

Reply:Yup, he just said what a lot of us have been thinking. He has more cojones than a lot of politicians. There ARE a lot of ignorant, clingy small-town people who are racist, xenophobic, use religion as a crutch, etc.

IF THAT DOESN'T DESCRIBE YOU: Why are you so offended by it? He's talking about "other small-town people."

I live in one of the biggest cities in America, if some politician started talking about how some people in cities are pushy, unfriendly, overly ambitious, morally bankrupt people, I wouldn't take offense unless I felt I matched that description.

Does Obama have issues admitting when hes wrong?

His campaign is fighting a fire over his "bitter" small town America comments. He has tried to tackle that by first reinterpreting his words and now this:

"If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that," Obama said in an interview with the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal.

http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satell...

IF ? Why can't Obama just acknowledge that HE DID offend small town America, he retracts the offending remarks and he apologises for having made them? Why the caveat of IF which indicates he thinks there is some doubt about how offensive his statements were?

Does Obama have issues admitting when hes wrong?
This guy is an arrogant A$$ HOLE.

I am really "BITTER" about his explanation of the statement.

"And so they pray and they count on each other and they count on their families. You know this in your own lives, and what we need is a government that is actually paying attention. Government that is fighting for working people day in and day out making sure that we are trying to allow them to live out the American dream."

obama

I don't need obama or the governmen to allow me to live out my American dream.

IT"S MY RIGHT, as a responsible adult to live out the American dream. What I need is the government to stay out of my American dream, and obama to stay out of White House

Ya THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:No-let's give that award to Hillary. When exactly did she apologize for her authorization to go to war with Iraq?
Reply:I know exactly what he meant by that remark, and he was right. People are bitter and cynical. They don't believe anything can change, and they aren't willing to give change a chance by voting for Obama.

Finally, we have a candidate who tells it like it is. It's a shame people are so small-minded and resentful that they would refuse an opportunity for change in government. Lord knows we need it.

Hillary is up to her typical tactics. She has people spying on Obama, and she'll use anything to discredit him. She should concentrate her energies on her own campaign. With her it will be the same old dirty politics as usual. People are afraid to try something new.

Obama for America in '08!
Reply:He is well aware that his remarks were offensive, which is why he is squirming like a worm on a hook. But how can he retract his words and apologize for them without asking his beloved pastor and mentor to do the same?
Reply:Obama never apologizes or if he does.. he only says he is sorry if he offended anyone.

But the more serious question is.. why is Obama always having to clarify what he meant or 'apologizes' for offending people and yet repeatedly does it in the first place.

Same with his wife's "First time proud of America" comments.

It seems like you give Obama more opportunities to speak, these comments keep coming out.... and one has to wonder what does this man really believe???
Reply:He doesn't think he was wrong.
Reply:He definitely has issues.... none of them good.
Reply:He's pandering to the elite 'latte liberals', the same people he first made the remarks to.

By using 'if' at the beginning of the sentence he is implying that the liberal base are just not educated enough to have really understood what he was trying to say.

He is, therefore, still pandering to the elite and still being condescending.
Reply:well bush never admits hes wrong, which is all of the time!
Reply:OBAMA = GOD!
Reply:He's an uppity, liberal elitist snob.
Reply:Only bitter people see that his statements are offensive. So in both ways, you just prove that he made points in his speech.
Reply:Even his campaign has admitted that Obama made a mistake.
Reply:Obama never thinks he's wrong. He's a smarty pants elitist who has been given a free pass at every stage of his political career...so why should he?
Reply:According to Him he's never wrong why admit it. Hillary has the same problem ie the Kosovo lies that both she and her husband told. Or for that matter Monicagate.
Reply:Since we don't know what this guy stands for, it seems reasonable that we should parse his behavior.

I personally don't believe that he thinks he was wrong. I believe that he thinks that he is always right, and right now he has to be careful because people are dissecting everything he says. If he is elected, he won't be any where near as careful.

White middle class America has learned how to talk to and about others. We are used to governing our speech so as not to possibly offend anyone else.

People who are among those who might be offended, have not learned to govern their speech. They haven't had to take racial sensitivity classes, and they see no reason to be careful, or to treat others as they would like to be treated.

We will be seeing much more of this type of faux pas and if we elect him, we will see a total change of culture in Washington. It will be a muzzling of mainstream America and absolute freedom of speech for anyone who isn't.

We are getting more and more like the Nazi's.

The only free speech that is allowed, is anti America speech.

Children are encouraged to turn their parents in for owning guns, or any other non politically correct behavior.

Schools are empowered to intrude on family values.

If we elect either of the liberals who are running, we will no longer be able to recognize our great country in 4 years.
Reply:That is just the way he is. He said accepting donations from Tony Rezko was ok but only gave the money back because his campaign told him to.
Reply:No, Hillary Clinton and George Bush do.

They are not wrong, they only Mis-speak!

He can't change his comments because that will label him as a flip flopper which is much worse. Anyways, you cant change the truth.

What the hell is a latte liberal?
Reply:Obama has a promlem with admitting anything....So does hillary as well so they are even in my book
Reply:I think the Dems are bitter, they have been robbed by the Dems for so long and they can't come up with anything any better than Hillary or Obama for a president. Even Dean is flustrated and does not know which way to turn. And neither of them can be any better than the other, their in a dead heat race. And at least he did apologize, saying he was wrong, he didn't try to tell the public he mis-spoke about the situation. I think his timing was wrong and he had it mis-worded to what he actually meant, America is bitter. I drive a truck over this nation and you get out in the public and listen to the stories everyday and you would know how bitter they are.

Damn job interviews?

Dont you hate going to alot of job interviews and in the end they say they will get back with u in 2 wks? (some dont even get back with u at all) is that a pretty much a given that u didnt get the job?

I'm a graphic designer and i get good responses to come in for a interview, but im not snagging the JOB. Maybe its my personality or the competition is just so much they have a hard time choosing a person? (oh and trust me, i have looked online for interview tips an such, but its still the same =[) It just sucks, b/c i just graduated college and finished up my internship. Now im unemployed an had to move back with my parents (dial up is a sucks) an if i get some crappy job in the meantime, then its going to be hard to make time for more interviews. im going nuts!!

Damn job interviews?
Is the problem in interviewing?

Sometimes it really is the person who give the best interview who wins the job. If an interviewee can't tell them how it is they are qualified for the job, they will probably hire someone who can.

I find that if I save a copy of the job description, learn it, and can offer a couple of examples of how I've gained or used each job skill they put in the job description, it really helps in an interview.

It also helps to learn about the company from looking and reading through the website, so that when the interviewer is telling you about it, you can offer your observations or ask and intelligent question or two.

I also found a list of common interview questions in which most of them will be asked. Thinking about how to each question in terms of the job I'm applying for also helps

http://bhuvans.wordpress.com/2006/08/19/...

There are specific things that they expect in an interview, and it tells you what kind of information they are looking for in some of the questions.

I answered another post on interviewing, and I will give you a link to it. Some parts of it are pretty good.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I hope I've helped out a little.
Reply:You're right it sucks to be us. I'm on the same boat I go to many interviews and never get selected. And I'm trying to get jobs that are not college related, like driver, laborer you know dirty jobs.
Reply:It may well be the resume, the picture painted and the person may not match.

Are you going to miss the comic relief George W. Bush provides when he's no longer president?

The man is pure comic gold! Here are some of my favourite recent "Bushisms":

"My relationship with this good man is where I've been focused, and that's where my concentration is. And I don't regret any other aspect of it. And so I—we filled a lot of space together."—on British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Washington, D.C., May 17, 2007

"The question is, who ought to make that decision? The Congress or the commanders? And as you know, my position is clear—I'm a commander guy."—Washington, D.C., May 2, 2007

"I'm a strong proponent of the restoration of the wetlands, for a lot of reasons. There's a practical reason, though, when it comes to hurricanes: The stronger the wetlands, the more likely the damage of the hurricane."—Discussing post-Katrina wetland improvements, New Orleans, March 1, 2007

You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."—Interview with CBS News, Washington D.C., Sept. 6, 2006 (maybe a Freudian slip?)

Are you going to miss the comic relief George W. Bush provides when he's no longer president?
These are some of his best lines:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."

- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"

- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI

Then, he says what he really means...

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."

- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,

3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)
Reply:Yeah, I will because, should any member of the current herd of Democrat candidates be elected, it'll be nothing but sadness and despair for the entire Country for the following four years.
Reply:i will miss nothing about bush can't wait for the door to hit him in theass, by the way bush lovers, have you signed up for the service or is it more important to stay home and fight the ideological wars
Reply:Yes, he will have to be much more serious and heavy handed after he cancels the elections and just becomes "Commander in Chief."
Reply:haha... I'd definitely call that a Freudian slip!
Reply:Yup it is Bush's fault, every bad thing that ever has happened is Bush's fault. He killed Elvis, caused Pearl Harbor, bombed the twin towers and was the shooter on the grassy knoll.

Remember the media quoted "sources in the Bush Administration" He has a time machine, didn't you know that?
Reply:some comic relief.
Reply:I'd rather have a boring President with a brain. All the crap that Bush has said might have been funny if it wasn't real.
Reply:I guess!
Reply:Yes, i will.

Unless a republican wins the election.
Reply:Miss it? I'd probably miss it more if they guy didn't actually have any power, because then it'd all be fun and games. As it is now, rather than being amused, most of the time I find myself mortified.
Reply:Consider him a single act in a never ending Stand-Up comedy review. Any of the current 3500 candidates will make a great next act.
Reply:I have books containing Bushisms and I am sure there will be at least one more coming out. When I want a laugh and shake my head in disbelief I will simply open one of those books and read a few Bushims.
Reply:No but I'm sure going to miss you liberal morons who can do nothing but bash the President.

If you had ideas of your own that would be one thing, but you don't, you have no original idea or proposal. The only thing you can do is bash bash bash hate hate hate.

Why don't you get your spokespeople (Nancy and Harry) to actually take a stand on something. Anything. Just one would be a step forward.

Guess you people like a tax hiking lying infidel in the white house? Or would have rather had a spineless overweight publicity w.h.o.r.e like Al who claimed he INVENTED the internet, not once, not twice, but in no fewer than 10 different speaches. Great you really know how to pick them.
Reply:JUST LIKE THESE QUOTES. REMEMBER WHEN THESE PEOPLE WERE ALL FOR WHAT BUSH DID.

October 9th, 1999 Letter to President Clinton Signed by Senators Levin, Lieberman, Lautenberg, Dodd, Kerrey, Feinstein, Mikulski, Daschle, Breaux, Johnson, Inouye, Landrieu, Ford and Kerry -- all Democrats

"We urge you, after consulting with Congress and consistent with the US Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions, including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."

Joe Biden %26gt; August 4, 2002

"This is a guy who is an extreme danger to the world, and this is a guy who is in every way possible seeking weapons of mass destruction."

Chuck Schumer %26gt; October 10, 2002

"It is Hussein's vigorous pursuit of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, and his present and future potential support for terrorist acts and organizations that make him a danger to the people of the united states."

John Kerry %26gt; January 23, 2003

"Without question we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator leading an impressive regime. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation. And now he's miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. His consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction."

Sandy Berger %26gt; February 18, 1998

"He'll use those weapons of mass destruction again as he has 10 times since 1983."

Senator Carl Levin %26gt; September 19, 2002

"We begin with a common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations, is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."

Senator Hillary Clinton %26gt; October 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock. His missile delivery capability, his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists including Al-Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Madeleine Albright %26gt; November 10, 1999

"Hussein has chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."

Robert Byrd %26gt; October 3, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of '98. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons."

Al Gore %26gt; September 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter, and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."

Joe Biden %26gt; August 4, 2002

"I think he has anthrax. I have not seen any evidence that he has smallpox, but you hear them say, Tim (Russert), is the last smallpox outbreak in the world was in Iraq; ergo, he may have a strain."

Bill Clinton %26gt; December 17, 1998

"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq.... Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors."

Hillary Clinton %26gt; October 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspections, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability and his nuclear program."

Dick Gephardt %26gt; September 23, 2002

"(I have seen) a large body of intelligence information over a long time that he is working on and has weapons of mass destruction. Before 1991, he was close to a nuclear device. Now, you'll get a debate about whether it's one year away or five years away."

Russell Feingold %26gt; October 9, 2002

"With regard to Iraq, I agree Iraq presents a genuine threat, especially in the form of weapons of mass destruction: chemical, biological and potentially nuclear weapons. I agree that Saddam Hussein is exceptionally dangerous and brutal, if not uniquely so, as the president argues."

Johnny Edwards %26gt; January 7, 2003

"Serving on the intelligence committee and seeing day after day, week after week, briefings on Saddam's weapons of mass destruction and his plans on using those weapons, he cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons. It's just that simple. The whole world changes if Saddam ever has nuclear weapons."

John Kerry %26gt; January 31, 2003

"If you don't believe...Saddam Hussein

is a threat with nuclear weapons, then

you shouldn't vote for me."

Bill Nelson %26gt; September 14, 2002

"I believe he has chemical and biological weapons. I think he's trying to develop nuclear weapons, and the fact that he might use those is a considerable threat to us."

Al Gore %26gt; September 23, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

Tom Daschle %26gt; February 11, 1998

"The (Clinton) administration has said, 'Look, we have exhausted virtually our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force them to do so?' That's what they're saying. This is the key question. And the answer is we don't have another option. We have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily."

Bill Richardson %26gt; May 29, 1998

"The threat of nuclear proliferation is one of the big challenges that we have now, especially by states that have nuclear weapons, outlaw states like Iraq."

Hillary Clinton %26gt; October 10, 2002

"It is clear, however, that if left unchecked Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Al Gore %26gt; December 16, 1998

"[I]f you allow someone like Saddam Hussein to get nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, chemical weapons, biological weapons, how many people is he going to kill with such weapons? He has already demonstrated a willingness to use such weapons..."

Bill Clinton %26gt; February 17, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace, and we have to use force, our purpose is clear: We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."

Madeleine Albright %26gt; February 1, 1998

"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and the security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."

Nancy Pelosi %26gt; December 16, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology, which is a threat to countries in the region, and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

Al Gore %26gt; September 23, 2002

"We know that he has stored nuclear supplies, secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

John Kerry %26gt; October 9, 2002

"I will be voting to give the president of the US the authority to use force if necessary to disarm Saddam because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."

Ted Kennedy %26gt; September 27, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."

Jay Rockefeller %26gt; October 10, 2002

"There was unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years. We also should remember that we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."

Joe Biden %26gt; August 4, 2002

"[H]e does have the capacity, as all terrorist-related operations do, of smuggling stuff into the United States and doing something terrible. That is true. But there's been no connection, hard connection made yet between he and al-Qaida or his willingness or effort to do that thus far. Doesn't mean he won't. This is a bad guy."

Madeline Albright %26gt; February 18, 2002

Iraq is a long way from (here), but what happens there matters a great deal here, for the risk that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest national security threat we face -- and it is a threat against which we must and will stand firm."

Jane Harman %26gt; August 27, 2002

"I certainly think (Hussein's) developing nuclear capability which, fortunately, the Israelis set back 20 years ago with their preemptive attack which, in hindsight, looks pretty darn good."

Dick Durbin %26gt; September 30, 1999

"One of the most compelling threats we in this country face today is the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Threat assessments regularly warn us of the possibility that North Korea, Iran, Iraq, or some other nation may acquire or develop nuclear weapons."

Bill Nelson %26gt; August 25, 2002

"[M]y own personal view is, I think Saddam

has chemical and biological weapons,

and I expect that he is trying to develop

a nuclear weapon. So at some point,

we might have to act precipitously."

Nancy Pelosi %26gt; October 10, 2002

"Yes, he has chemical weapons. Yes, he has biological weapons. He is trying to get nuclear weapons."

Evan Bayh %26gt; August 4, 2002

"I'm inclined to support going in there and dealing with Saddam, but I think that case

needs to be made on a separate basis: his possession of biological and chemical weapons, his desire to get nuclear weapons, his proven track record of attacking his neighbors and others."

Bill Clinton %26gt; February 17, 1998

"We have to defend our future from these predators of the 21st Century.... They will be all the more lethal if we allow them to build arsenals of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. We simply cannot allow that to happen. There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein."

Hillary Clinton %26gt; January 22, 2003

"I voted for the Iraqi resolution. I consider the prospect of a nuclear-armed Saddam Hussein who can threaten not only his neighbors but the stability of the region and the world, a very serious threat to the United States."

Joe Biden %26gt; August 4, 2002

"We know he continues to attempt to gain access to additional capability, including nuclear capability."

Johnny Edwards %26gt; February 6, 2003

"The question is whether we're going to allow this man who's been developing weapons of mass destruction continue to develop weapons of mass destruction, get nuclear capability and get to the place where -- if we're going to stop him if he invades a country around him -- it'll cost millions of lives as opposed to thousands of lives."

Joe Biden %26gt; August 4, 2002

"First of all, we don't know exactly what he has. It's been five years since inspectors have been in there, number one. Number two, it is clear that he has residual of chemical weapons and biological weapons, number one."

Senator Bob Graham %26gt; December 8, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has and has had for a number of years a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."

John Kerry %26gt; February 23, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has already used these weapons and has made it clear that he has the intent to continue to try, by virtue of his duplicity and secrecy, to continue to do so. That is a threat to the stability of the Middle East. It is a threat with respect to the potential of terrorist activities on a global basis. It is a threat even to regions near but not exactly in the Middle East."

Ethical dilemma surrounding an affair?

A and B are married. C has an affair with A. C ends the affair after realizing that what they are doing is wrong. B knew about the affair before it ended and has interacted wtih C on several occasions. C is now a big shot at some firm. C is hiring and in walks B to interview for the job.

You are C:

a) What do you do?

C what a mess you're in?
Reply:Depends. Is B the most qualified candidate for the position? If so, then hire B. If not, then don't hire B.
Reply:If there is an equally qualifed person, hire him/her. C is the one in the wrong and the one in the driver's seat. My question is why B would even want the job (to go along with the cheating spouse...?).
Reply:C should hire B then arrange an on-the-job accident that results in B's death. C should then marry A and enjoy the relationship that was meant to be instead of A wilting away with B (who is obviously some sort of loser since A had an affair with C).
Reply:well if B qualifies for the job, i'd give the job to B. since i did lead A to cheat on B, i, being C, owe it to B.

Reply:Be realistic, If i were B I wouldn't want to work or have any association with C. but maybe B really needs a job so as C I would interview her and at the end of a professional interview I would ask her if she really thought working with you was a good idea and if she could handle it with the situation being as it is and if she says she can I don't see how it would hurt C if B was qualified if she hired B.
Reply:If C is practically the owner of the company then how did B ever get an interview in the first place? Provided that C somehow didn't know that B was the person that he told to come to the interview then I would say that C just has to do the interview and let B know that C will get back to him or her. I wouldn't hire B because there is no way that B and C should ever work together. I am sure that C can find some reason not to hire B.
Reply:I think it's a matter of what would B do? Walk right out or go ahead with the interview? C and B shouldn't be working together, PERIOD!
Reply:IF B IS THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE AND C THINKS THEY CAN HAVE A WORKING RELATIONSHIP-THEN HIRE B.

C IS THE MISTRESS

B IS THE SPOUSE OF THE PERSON C HAD THE AFFAIR WITH RIGHT?

PS: I AM NOT YELLING-I TYPE BIG SO I CAN SEE BETTER.
Reply:do the interview honestly and face it head on. u can do it.

but think strictly business unless B brings somthing up about it. dont act like u dont know who B is tho
Reply:have the interview, but don't hire b, there will be problems later on that would make c wish she had not hired b. these things just don't go away, b may have some animosity toward c, as she knows about the affair, and could cause c alot of grief, she could ruin c's reputation if there were any problems.

TEXACO OIL COMPANY LIMITED offer job of safety officer with salary worth $22000. should this be believed?

my brother in law received a job offer from TEXACO OIL COMPANY, posting him as safety officer- abuja F.C.T. nigeria following just an interview in the form of a word doccument and no scrutiny of certificates. they offer salary worth $22000 along with perks like camry car, 5 bedroom flat and so on....they claim to have seen his profile from monster.com...is this to be beleived? does a company like texaco offer such huge salaries to safety officers? whom to contact to know the exact information?

TEXACO OIL COMPANY LIMITED offer job of safety officer with salary worth $22000. should this be believed?
The answerer above is very accurate.

Texaco is a Public Limited Company in Nigeria, traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Thus, their company name will end in "PLC".

$22,000 per month is NOT reasonable salary for a safety officer in almost any country...even private american security officers in Iraq.

Of course, nobody pays a security officer in Nigeria that much. You're looking at over $250,000/yr for a security job in Abuja...which is probably the safest place in the country. In the Niger Delta, you wouldn't get paid that amount either.
Reply:I know I was registered on monster and I got an interview with some bank but it was doing the insurance like selling it...I of course turn it down because I am a stay at home mom, but my aunt went to job interview. I told her about it and had her call the number. She didnt get it.
Reply:Scam? The word Nigeria sounds like a scam already......5 bedroom flat? No way.
Reply:In the US this is not a high paying job....so anyone from here would need the extra perks of a car, no documents, a place to live to even be interested. They are offering the perks in leiu of the salary they are not paying....so it sounds about right to me.

However, you would need to be sure the offer is valid...the way to do that is contact the Texaco Oil Co. yourself, and confirm that this is a valid offer. Probably is because it is not easy to get workers to go to Nigeria from here.

Also realize there is some risk involved in being a safety officer....but since you would have an apartment and a car, most of the salary could be saved. Tell him to check on his own with the Company itself. They will confirm if it is a valid offer that is open.

Texaco Oil Co. is a valid co. to deal with....just be sure this is offered by them. Also there may be some "strings" tied to the offer....a commitment to stay so long....a "loan" of the car....it may be a company car to use as long as you have the job...then have to return it....how or where the apartment is....also who is monster.com...do they get a commission for placing someone in the job? Find out from the company.

Also the "Limited" at the end bothers me....not sure Texaco Oil Co. has that in their title...check that out too.

How do employers decide whether or not ....10 points. Thanks?

they will hire person, A, B, C, or D? You know the interview only last 30 minutes to 1 hour. They have to meet many applicants per days everyday. How do they decide? How do they remember everything? I know some interviewers don't even take notes.

How do employers decide whether or not ....10 points. Thanks?
Bear in mind that really, most employers don't interview that many people. A recruiter might, but not an employer - they'll probably only have one vacancy every so often. The employers are the ones that make the decisions, not the recruiters.

The interview might seem to last a short time but that's why many companies will invite you back for second, third and fourth interviews. I have never known an interviewer not to take notes, although sometimes if there is more than one interviewer then only one will take notes. Also, they shouldn't really write too many notes - it's considered distracting to the candidate if they're constantly writing, and they won't even get a chance to look the interviewer in the eye.

So, in terms of how they actually decide ...

They've seen your CV already so know that you potentially could do the job. However, don't assume that A, B, C, and D are starting off equal. For example, maybe one person is quite a bit more junior, but they decided to give them an interview anyway because they had been highly recommended by a current employee or something - but then in the interview showed that they were really too junior. So obviously qualifications and experience factor in.

To a large extent it will come down to personality. Yes, you need to be smart and articulate to answer all of the questions correctly, but if you're applying above a certain level then it's likely that all applicants will be smart and articulate. But you need the interviewer to warm to you, as a person. They may also take into account how well they think you can fit in with the rest of the team.

Another thing that will factor in is interview preparation. Being over-prepared will do you no favours: employers want someone who can think on their feet, not someone who can memorise rote answers and isn't even answering the question being asked. However, under-preparation is never good either, as it makes it look like you're not that interested in the job and couldn't be bothered to prepare.
Reply:As an interviewer, I always took notes. I think it's disrespectful not to. In the interview, three things are going on: The interviewer is trying to find the right candidate, the candidate is trying to win the job offer and the candidate is trying to learn about the company, opportunity and the interviewer.

I looked first for three things: Use of the language, comfort in the situation and honesty. Of course, the talk was about the job and the candidate's preparation and background but I wanted to know about those three things.

Be prepared for the question, "Tell me about yourself."

Good luck!
Reply:do research on the job. find out what their mission statement and find a question to ask about it. that shows that you did not wake up a hour before the interview and decide to go job hunting. plus, you might even stump your interviewer. Stand out most of all, then there will be no notes to be taking.

They don't remember everything, usually decision based on impression (rational or emotional), it all question of probability and some preferences. Formally they seek balance between productivity (competence) and the price (wage), also some risks and other long-term factors are involved. It also concerns possible income distribution psychology, if you fit local business environment and some externalities. In reality friendships, relatives, politics, discrimination stuff can be involved.
Reply:Each employer has their own standards and methods of hiring. Sometimes it can be something as simple as "hitting it off" with a candidate as a good colleague. Most employers base their decision on one or more of the following factors: Chemistry and presence during interviews; Good personal and professional references, Relevant Work Experience, Skills, Education, and personality. There is no magic formula or answer as to why Company A hires employee 2 instead of 5, etc. Some companies have large hierarchies and you have to pass muster on several levels so to speak, where as there are small businesses that will hire you just based upon your likeability. So, you are correct in that it doesn't always make sense. As another example, there are some people who get hired strictly because a friend or relative recommended them. If you email me the company where you would like to work, I can give you a better idea of their HR practices. Take care and GOOD LUCK! Andrea
Reply:You should always remember their name and ask for a business card, that way you can mail them a Thank You letter after the interview, it always leaves a good impression and they know you really want the job. if you don't remember the address google it.
Reply:They go off of intial impression.

It is pretty obivous to them as to what kind of person the interviewee is.
Reply:they go by appearances and the knowledge of the job..how they treat others etc..some write notes some just remember and rule some out as they leave then they don't have to remember anymore..
Reply:I pick people whom I think are most suited for a job i.e. they meet certain criteria.

Chrysler Powertrain engineer??

How much does a Chrysler powertrin engineer make? I am asking b/c I am going for an interview tongiht and they asked my desired salary, I don't want to low ball it but at the same time I don't want it to be too high either.

Chrysler Powertrain engineer??
there are a couple of places like salary.com that allow you to enter the proposed title and the zip code. there is probably enough statistical sampling there to get you the info you seek. don't ask for more than median unless you have experience ;) good luck!

Wat is diff b/w malloc &calloc functioin?

it is a c language question ask in a interview

Wat is diff b/w malloc %26amp;calloc functioin?
malloc is used to allocate a certain number of bytes of memory. It only takes one parameter, the number of bytes. Usually, malloc doesn't initialise the allocated memory to zero, the contents of the memory will be undefined.

calloc is used to allocate a certain number of blocks of memory, with each block being of a certain size. It takes two parameters, the first one is the number of blocks and the second one is the size of each block in bytes. Unlike malloc, calloc does initialize all the blocks of memory to zero bytes.
Reply:malloc and calloc r both used to allocate memory dynamically

syntax of malloc is:(cast-type *)malloc(sizeof(bytesize);

casttype is the return type and byte size specifies the number of bytes to allocate

whereas syntax of calloc is

(cast-type *)calloc(n,bytesize);

n here specifies the number of blocks to be allocated

i.e, n blocks of bytesize each is allocated

and also calloc intializes the blocks to zero value.
Reply:http://www.careercup.com/question/?q=4f9...

2. they have different prototype(that is u call them differently).

void * calloc(size_t n, size_t size)

void * malloc(size_t bytes)

But both do the same thing.. they return the pointer to the newly allocated memory block(given that the block was allocated)

note:: size_t is an unsigned integer.... (remember typedef ???)

What does everyone think of Barry Manilow refusing to go on the view?

I think he is being a baby...the story is that he refuses to go on the view b/c he doesnt want to be interviewed by Elizabeth, b/c he is a democrate and she is not.....I think its a bit babyish, I mean honestly she seems to be a very nice lady and if they steer the conversation away from political beliefs what does he have to be scared of? I dont think she would sit there and badger him over and over if thats not where the conversation is. I, personally, feel he is afraid to have that he can not back himself up and therefore, is scared to even get caught in that situation.....I am not and have never been a Manilow fan but he just made himself even smaller in my eyes...what do you think?

What does everyone think of Barry Manilow refusing to go on the view?
He's a coward and he probably doesn't have the convictions of his own beliefs. Personally, I couldn't care less than I do about the political convictions of entertainers. After all, it ain't like they're deep thinkers to begin with.
Reply:He is typical of the elite liberals in the entertainment industry. These people are fascists. They only deal with those who have their viewpoints.
Reply:same reaction as the dem candidates regarding fox news debate. you would think barry would be begging to be on something mainstream.he is irrelevant. and being a BABY.
Reply:He's a disappointment and a disgrace, considering that he made a very good living (from conservatives and their hard-earned money) singing about peace and love and unity and always tells his fans to "be nice." Obviously Mr. Manilow does not practice what he preaches. What a phony.

He owes ALL the ladies of The View -- especially Elisabeth -- an apology for being such an egotistical prick. Shame on him, a 64-year-old "man" who should know better.

And guess what, Barry? A true professional honors his commitments without b*tchin about it, and a true gentleman is gracious even to those with whom he disagrees. Manilow is neither professional nor gentlemanly.
Reply:I'll give you the same response I had given to someone earlier:

I saw that this morning and it made me laugh. His music is great, but now every time I hear anything that he's written or sings, I'll remember him fondly for the wimp that he is.
Reply:Hmm...Barry Manilow, someone I like to call Barely Manenough. I think it's sort of funny. Elizabeth is no doubt a right winger, but big deal. He's being ridiculous, as you said they don't even have to talk politics. Maybe this is his way of trying to present himself as politically relevant. It didn't work, get the hook.
Reply:If a person was asked to go on the following shows Oprah, Jay Leno, David Letterman, or Larrg KIng LIve ESPN whatever, anyways if celebrity has right to turn them down, Maybe Barry Manilow has a busy schedule does not have time for the view. So its up to a everyday regular person or a celibrity star to whether to go a live show like the view, if they say No have that right not to go
Reply:The girl who went toe to toe with Rosie? Anyone who sinks to that level is not worth the air time.
Reply:If Manilow can't back up his politics, he doesn't need to do anything. First off, the ONLY reason he is on there is to promote his new album of REHASH. Why did he bring POLITICS into it? Someone answer me that. I think, or at least I hope, Ms. Hasselbeck would not get into a political discussion. Keep it on the topic of his music. Now, I got 100 bucks that says, when she leaves to have the baby, Mr. manilow will show up. Any takers?
Reply:I'm sure they could arrange a one on one with Whoopi. I can't believe this terrible show is even still on the air. I have trouble answering this as I hold Barry and the View in equally low esteem.

When will entertainers figure out we just want their entertainment - not their politics! Until they do - no dollars from me.
Reply:Who gives a rat's a$$.
Reply:Barry was booked to go on The View to discuss and promote his 'new' album (made up of old songs, of course). The View dropped him (he didn't back out) because he tried to dictate who would be allowed to interview him. What do Elisabeth Hasselbeck's politics have to do with Barry Manilow's music? Nothing. He's a bleeding heart liberal who has contributed the maximum amount allowed to each of the Democratic presidential candidates' campaign funds and he thinks he's "making a statement" by not allowing a right wing conservative to interview him. Give me a break! The man is a moron. Would the conversation have veered over to politics? Possibly. So what? What is he afraid of? I bet Barry doesn't have a problem with conservatives buying his albums or attending his concerts! What a jerk. I think it's much more interesting to watch an interview when the interviewer and interviewee have different points of view. How boring to sit around and watch everyone agree all the time! Barry needs to grow up.
Reply:Typical of bleeding heart liberals. They have no courage. They can't stand being called to the carpet for the stupid statements and ideas they have.

I mean look at Kerry in Florida. True leadership. Rather than answer questions, let the Gestapo move in and jail a college student.
Reply:Just more liberal pansiness.
Reply:He's exercising his right to free speech, only in this case, he's choosing to be quiet. I don't blame him at all for rrefusing to go on The View, and as a matter of fact, I admire him for it. He's a great singer, a great songwriter and frankly, I think he has a great attitude for wanting to remain above the garbage that talk TV really is.

EDIT: So he's a whining baby for standing up for his beliefs and his friends? I can't stand Rosie O'Donnell, but Barry Manilow is friends with her and he is standing by her, something I do for my friends and would expect nothing less from them. A whining baby indeed. It's a whining baby who spits out a belief and then refuses to back it up through ACTIONS.
Reply:Not surprised at all.

The top democratic candidates refuse to be interviewed on Fox or attend any debate sponsored by Fox. Barry might have feared being asked a tough question.
Reply:I wonder if Manilow will put out a statement saying he doesn't want anybody that doesn't agree with his politics not to buy his recordings or bother attending his concerts.

Sheesh... if he can't handle Elizabeth (not exactly a William F. Buckley or a Bill o'Reilly in the conservative arsenal)....he must not have much confidence in himself.
Reply:I agree with him.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck should expect to be shunned if she wants to hold herself out as a Bush apologist!

EDIT: Michael, people are being arrested at Republican speaking engagements as well for expressing their once constitutionally guaranteed right of freedom of speech!

You do this country a disservice making this a partisan issue!
