Analysis and Evalution

1) information and evidence

(a) interviewing

(b) research

(c) personal experience

(d) observation

How does the author prove his thesis? Is he citing otherr books, did he interview people, was the book about his personal experience, did he go and observe people?

2) organization

(a) chronological

(b) flashbacks

(c) unrelated vignettes or stories

(d) table of contents, index, appendices

How are the chapters organized? Does the book tell a story or is it more informative. For instance,a book about eating disorders could be told in chapters about different eating disorders. 1. anorexia nervosa 2. bulima nervousa 2. compulsive over eating disorder 2. compulsive over exercising disorder and so on and so forth. Or the story could be about the authors own journey with her/his eating disorder.

3) readability

(a) vocabulary

(b) illustrations

(c) complexity of sentences

Did you have to read the book with a dictionary?

Value

1) society

2) individual

3) recommendation

How does the book help society, how did it help you, did your opinion change on the topic, did you learn anything? Would you recommend the book and to who and why?

I hope this helps! I am just kind of assuming a lot of these, if you're still confused about everything you might want to talk to your professor after class or schedule an appointment or even email the prof.
