Happy career ending after signing with a staffing agency?

Help! I'm feeling pretty hopeless after job searching for 6 months in a very competitive large city, Minneapolis. I was laid off at the end of July, and I have only had three interviews that did not work out. I was at my former job for 6 years and have already realized that I will have to take a significant "pay cut" from what I used to make just to get my foot in the door somewhere else. I'm pretty nervous about interviewing in general b/c of my lack of experience (with interviewing). I think a staffing agency is the way to go, since they act like your advocate in getting you a job.

Please give me your positive experiences of working with a staffing agency! Can you suggest some good ones?

Reply:Wow, really, youre having trouble finding a job in Minneapolis? What is your field if I could ask? That is a place a was looking to relocate to, because the housing is reasonably priced, and it looked like there was a ton of pretty well paying jobs. Report It

Reply:a staffing agency is not always a permanent thing. Remember that you may not be working all the time so it's best to sign up with a few. Don't think they act like your advocate in getting a job; they will make a company "buy you off" if they want to hire you permanently.

The upside is that you can make new contacts and learn new skills. Good luck.
