I have a little dilemna. I have two interviews in London on Thursday both with agencies. I am going for secretarial / PA positions. I am quite a funky/trendy dresser and like to make an impression. What do you think i should wear:
a. Grey Trousers, white fitted shirt, a chequered neck scarf and high chequered shoes.
b. Black trousers, white fitted shirt with a black tank top over the top, burgundy neck scarf and high burgundy shoes
c. Black skirt (has rouched detail at back), fitted white shirt, black high sling backs
Any help would be great!
What to wear to an interview in the city?
First good luck on your interview....
It's always best to keep it simple...
a simple suit and nice clean neutral blouse but no frills
only wear simple earrings and a watch not excess jewels...
a little color is nice for accents....like a scarf...but not too bright...
Dress for success....
make sure your shoes are in good shape I'd wear closed toe shoes....
do not wear strong perfume....
make sure your teeth and breath are fresh
sometimes it's those personal things that turns off the interviewer....
hated to bring it up but it's the truth....
report back how it turns out...good luck!

Reply:i think it should be a. whatever interview you go, you should still dress to look smart or neat.i just try to pick the smart looking clothes, but you can still choose the clothes yourself!
Reply:I thinking c. mabe add a thin red belt around the skirt to add a touch more colour, hinting at your funky style without being to overpowering. I think all your options are pretty safe. make sure sure you dont overdo it with make up and hair. maybe keep the make up fresh and glowing and tidy but chic hair. hope all goes well. good luck! :)
Reply:common mistakes that men make while dressing:
Shirts:
For official wear, choose a shirt with a wide collar because it leaves you with an option of leaving it loose or buttoning it up. The collar should be thick and stiff and properly starched.
A shirt should be well fitting. A full sleeve shirt that is buttoned down and tucked inside the pants makes you look smart but that is not the right way to wear this formal attire.
A shirt should never be tucked in if you have a paunch because it should not be highlighted. Guys who are lean should avoid wearing a T-shirt with a shirt over it. As far as colours go, grey doesn't look good on Indian skin. So, avoid it. Instead, invest in colours like aqua blue, navy blue and beige.
Ties:
Avoid wearing a printed tie with birds and figures on it because it looks funny. Never wear a printed shirt with a printed tie. A tie can have a double knot if the jacket is worn over the shirt. A loose necktie with a few buttons opened in a shirt can give a sexy look.
But one should keep in mind that the tip of the tie should not cover the belt buckle. It should be at the tip of the buckle. Slim ties are 'in' now. But if you want to invest in big ties, choose solid colours like pink or white.
Trousers:
Never wear a pleated trouser because it sags and looks ugly. Avoid buying pants that display their logos because everybody will come to know the price of it.
Belts:
Many men make holes in their belts when they don't fit well. Men don't realise that the crack lines of the man-made holes on their belts are visible. The buckle of the belt should be kept as small as possible. The smaller the buckle, the better. Belts never go out of fashion. So, always invest in thin, textured belts.
Socks:
Socks should be textured. (Psst…. a person's sense of humour can be judged by the choice of socks and ties he wears). You can get interesting looking sportive socks in colours like aqua blue, beige, pastel colours, gray or black.
Shoes:
More the number of stitches visible in the shoes, the cheaper it looks. Maintain a balance between the clothes and the shoes that you choose to wear. For instance, put on decorative shoes only with party wear.
Cologne:
One should be selective about the cologne that one buys and applies. Men should apply cologne behind their ears, chest and under arms. Unlike women, men are not supposed to bathe in cologne. When men use cologne, ladies realise that they've taken an extra step towards personal hygiene. Avoid putting cologne on clothes.
Jewellery:
Try to avoid wearing any kind of jewellery as it's not masculine to wear them.
Last but not the least, remember, it's believed that smaller the phone and bigger the car, it represents the style and wealth of a person.
