Reply:To claim anything within a country is exclusive to a race within that country is by definition RACIST. I have always contended that Israel is a racist state.

Reply:Her comments on the racial hierarchy in Israel are accurate. A Jewish friend of mine was visiting some distant relatives in Israel. He was walking along a street in a Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem, and there was a man doing some work on his house, just your average Do-It-Yourself, Home Depot kinda stuff on a Sunday. Two Jewish men walking past him stopped and said, "Why are you doing this? Just get an Arab!"





Israel is only just barely, technically, a democracy. Yes, they vote, there are reasonably free and fair elections. But most folks assume that along with elections, democracy includes some constitutional protection of basic rights, and a guarantee of equality under the law. That, you won't so much find in Israel.





Israeli society is very stratified, and there's a lot of internal tension. Without the Palestinian-other to focus on, they'd have to deal with those internal tensions, and the Israeli social divides would make the United States' Red State vs. Blue State problems look like a birthday present. Thomas Friedman's "From Beirut to Jerusalem" also noted the tensions between more secular Israelis, and the ultra-religious. He observed a very harsh exchange of words between a young woman who had gotten on a bus, and sat near to a yeshiva student, dressed in that 18th century Polish shtetl style. He looked her up and down, and made a face and said something disapproving about her tank top and shorts (the lack of modesty). She said something equally bitter about yeshiva students who never serve a day in the military.
