I got a C in english and I am applying for a magnet program. What should I do?

I just got my second C ever, in the same subject, GT english. I am most likely to be taken out and placed in Pre AP (second best). However, I am appling for a highschool magnet program that deals mostly with science and math (speciffically, engineering). I am not sure what my chances of getting into it are now. All my teachers have given good recommendations, and the director of my current middle school magnet program also strongly recommended me. How will it impact it. I have to sent a report card along with my application, and it has to be by Febuarary, and Ive only had two, with great grades EXCEPT for english. I really want to be accepted. There are also interviews needed to apply, so I dont think a single C will strongly impact it, but my parents are strict with grades (as in grounded for 3 days if I get a B). I am an 8th grader. The reason why for the grade is explained in the additional details part:

I would talk to the English department head or your teacher and explain what happened. What are you going to school for? (major) I'm an English teacher and i know the capabilities of all of my kids. You should HONESTLY explain what happened to your teacher and see if you can get an extension. Your academic career isn't solely based on one course but as a collective. We all have problem areas. NO ONE IS PERFECT!!!
