How does one get interviewed by Sodexho even though I have dropped off resumes in their Columbia, S.C. office?

They are a big food service employer here. They just never acknowledge your applying for a certain job when sending a resume after the application submission. Everyone I met at their office just drops off their resume at the same place as the secretary tells prospective employees to do and doesn't hear from anyone in management or about the job (s) I am well qualified for at least an interview. Even knowing people working as chef's won't tell or give a name to follow up with. At times those people feel intimidated if shown or they know your resume/background for fear you'll take their job! I have even applied for an hourly cook's position to get my feet in the door.

My first question to you would be what have you done about it? When you want to go on a date with someone do you just show up at the movies and expect someone to sit down next to you and cuddle? If you've dropped off your resume then you've taken the first step. Now it's time to take the next: within a week of dropping it off send a follow up letter (addressed to the HR department... it's better if you have a specific person to send it to) and just let them know that you are still interested in the position, a brief recap of your qualifications, and how/when you can be contacted.

Lots of companies recieve literally hundreds of resumes/applications weekly, the quickest way for them to sort them is to see who checks back more than once. They want to hire someone who really wants the position, not just someone who dropped of a resume on their way to dropping off 30 other resume's around town.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:well in general I will say it is there loss. A company who treats perspective employees that way I wonder how they treat there employees. But quite simply I do know, don't bother with them, my sister used to work for them, STAY AWAY.
