Should I wait or follow up about a job I interviewed for 3 times?

To try and make a long story short, I interviewed with this particular company twice, and went in a third time to give a presentation b/c after the second interview I was told it was b/w me and another guy. I sent thank you emails after each time I went in. I felt the presentation went extremely well and after I was done one of the guys in the room said I was in “good position.” The presentation was last Wednesday (12/12). I was told that day that they would make a decision by Friday (12/14).

It’s now Monday afternoon and I haven’t heard anything. Should I wait it out or should I call or email and follow up with HR? If you think I should wait it out, how much longer should I wait before I follow up? I’m nervous as hell b/c I thought I sealed the deal with the presentation but now I don’t know.

You should definitely call. Since it was past the time they told you that they would have a decision, you will be seen as proactive, not bugging them. As for the wait, don't be nervous. You have to just know that it is now out of your hands and if it was meant to be, then it will happen. As a recruiter, I can tell you that I've had to take a few extra days with a top candidate because I need to do all the behind-the-scenes stuff before I can offer the job. This includes references, background check, etc. It may take a few days and maybe they are waiting until everything is done before they call you. You should definitely follow up and then just wait - relax - it will happen in time. Good luck!!
Reply:wait to see if they contact you today and tomorrow, and call them on Wed. most Friday's and Monday's people leave work early/call out sick etc etc
Reply:Give it until tomorrow to call. People get busy. Next time, do not email the thank you letter. Sent it via fdx or usps priority mail; emails are disregarded very easily.

Reply:I would call today.

Yes, Mondays are busy, but the mornings more so than the afternoons. Wait until 3 p.m. and call. Just say that you're interested in discussing how things went, and do they have a moment now. They will tell you if they can't talk at the moment, and they will know that you are still incredibly interested in the position (and are truly a go-getter who doesn't wait for things to come to him).

Good luck!
Reply:Companies rarely follow through with their promises of keeping you informed. Besides interviewing candidates for open positions, they have a business to run. Fridays are bad days for them because everyone wants to run home. Mondays are bad because everyone is recovering from the weekend. Try Tuesday with a phone call or e-mail.
