Any advice?? I'm slowly going back into the work world after being out a year for panic attacks and depression

I haven't had a panic attack in 2 months. I go to thearpy every week. I have a interview for a college job working as a receptionist this week. I don't think I can handle that position like I thought. I'm so nervous and I don't think I can walk into the interview b/c of nerves. Any advice?

Any advice?? I'm slowly going back into the work world after being out a year for panic attacks and depression
I think you should go anyways. You're not going to melt or implode or anything. Yes you may be nervous.....but once you get THROUGH the interview....you'll be stronger...because you made it through!!!
Reply:Wow you have already come so far! Don't let your hard work go to waste now!! Come on your be okay, hold your head up high and tell yourself you will and can do this!! Good luck
Reply:God bless ..good luck. my advice is ... to stop the negative thinking. if you think you will fail.... you will fail. go in there..and show them what you are made of. you CAN do it.
Reply:Dip your toe in the water, first, before taking the plunge. Volunteer, first from home, then at someplace like the Salvation Army, sorting clothes, etc., or Meals on Wheels, for a few days, 1 - 2 hrs at first, then more, which will enable you to get back into the work habit. Call now, or tomorrow, to organise. Go in to the college office tomorrow, or the day after, and familiarise yourself with the layout, and ask a few questions of the current receptionist. Try to find out which office the interview will be held in, and, if possible, meet the interviewer. On the day, consider taking something to help relax you, but if driving, know the effects beforehand! Sections 47, 38, 2, 8, and 6, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris refer. Start ASAP.
Reply:Hi,keep telling yourself you can do it.Eventually you will.Good Luck
Reply:You can do anything you put your mind to do self convidence is the answer just take a dip breath and smile
Reply:If you still have the false hopes for love and sex that you did have this may all happen again. Otherwise your mental strength will slowly return and you can function almost as well as before. Depression is from the chemicals produced when the last expectations were erased.
Reply:I could'nt work for 10 years for panic attacks but now have a highly paid job. After seeing a CBT therapist for a while I thought F**K em all, I do it by myself and it worked. With that mindset your nerves disappear quickly.Your Interviewer would get suspicious if you did'nt seem a little anxious anyway.Good luck, you'll sail through it.
Reply:Hey Kim

I can only imagine how unerved you feel, however i would imagine you acquired this interview on merit, so obviously you deserve your chance to shine as so to speak.

Furthermore just imagine for a breif moment how you may feel if you do not just try.

As students go about their daily routine they will hardly have time to focus on what your doing, unless they come to you in a professional capacity, and when you acquire the skills to do your job efficiently you will be amzed at how seemless each day at work becomes.

Finally try to remember that many of the people you come into contact with will be quite nervous and unsure to, and i find it's always a good idea to offer support to others, as this will be a good way of building your confidence also.

ps when you do go for your interview if your hands are prone to shaking, then sit on them palms up.

I really hope it pans out for you

Take care and good luck.

pps don't forget to smile
Reply:There is nothing you can't do...only things you haven't learned how to do yet!! I, too, have gone through the horror of panic attacks! Try not to doubt yourself. When I accepted the fact that I might have a severe panic attack at any moment, my life became easier...little at a time. Instead of stressing about IF I would have an anxiety attack, I chose to plan MY ATTACK, if I did. Brown bag for hyperventilation, bio-feedback for tachycardia, principles of relaxation therapy While on the job) to try to ease tense muscles...Most people will not see what is going on inside of you, you may just think they will. So that's one down. In the position you will be taking, YOU will be the voice with the answers so trust yourself!

Walk into this interview and sell yourself as the best!! They want to see your smile, so let them see it. The thing about picturing your interviewer naked sounds lame but works. If you start getting stressed, take a deep breath and say to yourself "It never really mattered about the little things"%26gt; This is a job interview, not the Salem witch trials. OK? You'll do fine. This will pass.
Reply:you should help your self. avoid yourself in panic or in a worry, because it hurts yourself not really healthy in our bosy and heart..

build self-confidence, trust and incontact with God in yourlife..

don't panic too much and don't be depressed..

do good if you want to feel good.

control yourself when panic occurs..
Reply:Tell yourself "I can do this"... and repeat it until you feel like you can do it. Calm your nerves and go.

Do not give up!
Reply:Just tell yourself to be calm.

I think you should at least try if you don't get the job then you will no that you're not ready...

Good luck!!
Reply:Roll a fat one, nah mean, roll that sticky fire up.
Reply:im on disability for anxiaty depression stress bipolar panic attacks and caz i isolate myself from the world but i miss working it took alot offa my mind and the money was great and if you have the chance to make your life better then take it dont worry about what held you back or youll be right back where you started dont listen to people or let people get to you because they dont matter when it comes to your life you and your loved ones thats all that matters just dont worry about it and everything should be fine go in only thinking of the outcome and zone into your own little world and forget about everybody around you that you feel will make your job misrable drama is the biggest problem at work so dont even get around it or you will be put right back into a crappy work life its really hard but if you go for what you want and dont let that stuff get to you will never hafto worry about it if thats what you want you will get it if you work hard for it
