Texaco is a Public Limited Company in Nigeria, traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Thus, their company name will end in "PLC".
$22,000 per month is NOT reasonable salary for a safety officer in almost any country...even private american security officers in Iraq.
Of course, nobody pays a security officer in Nigeria that much. You're looking at over $250,000/yr for a security job in Abuja...which is probably the safest place in the country. In the Niger Delta, you wouldn't get paid that amount either.

Reply:In the US this is not a high paying job....so anyone from here would need the extra perks of a car, no documents, a place to live to even be interested. They are offering the perks in leiu of the salary they are not paying....so it sounds about right to me.
However, you would need to be sure the offer is valid...the way to do that is contact the Texaco Oil Co. yourself, and confirm that this is a valid offer. Probably is because it is not easy to get workers to go to Nigeria from here.
Also realize there is some risk involved in being a safety officer....but since you would have an apartment and a car, most of the salary could be saved. Tell him to check on his own with the Company itself. They will confirm if it is a valid offer that is open.
Texaco Oil Co. is a valid co. to deal with....just be sure this is offered by them. Also there may be some "strings" tied to the offer....a commitment to stay so long....a "loan" of the car....it may be a company car to use as long as you have the job...then have to return it....how or where the apartment is....also who is monster.com...do they get a commission for placing someone in the job? Find out from the company.
Also the "Limited" at the end bothers me....not sure Texaco Oil Co. has that in their title...check that out too.

They don't remember everything, usually decision based on impression (rational or emotional), it all question of probability and some preferences. Formally they seek balance between productivity (competence) and the price (wage), also some risks and other long-term factors are involved. It also concerns possible income distribution psychology, if you fit local business environment and some externalities. In reality friendships, relatives, politics, discrimination stuff can be involved.

Most employers base their decision on one or more of the following factors: Chemistry and presence during interviews; Good personal and professional references, Relevant Work Experience, Skills, Education, and personality. I think he is being a baby...the story is that he refuses to go on the view b/c he doesnt want to be interviewed by Elizabeth, b/c he is a democrate and she is not.....I think its a bit babyish, I mean honestly she seems to be a very nice lady and if they steer the conversation away from political beliefs what does he have to be scared of? I dont think she would sit there and badger him over and over if thats not where the conversation is. I, personally, feel he is afraid to have that he can not back himself up and therefore, is scared to even get caught in that situation.....I am not and have never been a Manilow fan but he just made himself even smaller in my eyes...what do you think?

Johnson and Mc Namarra changed the name of that country !!! How many of today's BIG NAME, PROFESSIONAL NEWS MEDIA REPORTERS, AND ARM CHAIR JOURNALISTS - COMMONTATORS, HAVE OR EVER HAD THE BALLZ TO GO INTO THE ACTUAL ACTIVE AREA, AS DID THE REPORTER, THAT WAS THERE, AND WAS ALSO INTERVIEWED !!!!
